@Kotthu I know that in addition to the legends about the Delaware Moors being descended from shipwrecked Spaniards, there are also legends about the Chincoteague ponies being descended from Spanish horses that swam ashore from a Spanish shipwreck. I'm not sure if there is a documented link between these two legends, but it is interesting to see two different legends about Spanish shipwrecks in the same general region of Delmarva. It's possible the legends of the Delaware Moors were inspired by stories about actual Spanish shipwrecks. If the horses really do descend from Spanish horses, the most likely candidate would be La Galga in 1750. Although a rival theory says they came from the mainland.
