George R.R. Martin's best-selling book series "A Song of Ice and Fire" is brought to the screen as HBO sinks its considerable storytelling teeth into the medieval fantasy epic. It's the depiction of two powerful families -- kings and queens, knights and renegades, liars and honest men -- playing a deadly game for control of the Seven Kingdoms of Westeros, and to sit atop the Iron Throne. Martin is credited as a co-executive producer and one of the writers for the series, whose shooting locations include Northern Ireland, Malta, Croatia and Spain.

There is indeed much to love in this series, even as it lurches forward in season five.

The fifth season of Game of Thrones saw many of our characters - some our favorites, some less so - rise higher than they have in the whole five seasons.

Yes, we may be so far up to our neck with denial we can't see straight, but hey, we like it here.

It got worse with every season. The writers are clearly stalling with filler episodes and boring plotlines. I gave up because I couldn't take the slow, pointless story anymore.

Very interesting how the show explores the power religion can hold in a society when it’s given authority — what happened to you, Cersei Lannister? 😂

Definitely a slower season with the least plot progression but that doesn't mean it's any weaker than before and the last three episodes are some of the series best even if leaves off every plot line on loose ends. Not the pinnacle of Game of Thrones but still excellent and manages to continue building the world, slowly tie the storylines together and stay immersed in the drama and the action. 8.5/10

8.6/10. Simply put, not as bad as I was expecting. But definitely a step down from the fourth season. The first four episodes were decent but slow, the two after that were just mediocre and quite boring, but then the last four really saved it. The writing was very obviously not as good but the production quality, acting, music and effects were stunning to say the least. Episodes like Hardhome and Mother’s Mercy really impressed me and I feel that saying there’s no 10/10 episodes after season four is just a blatant lie imo.
Good season, can be a bit of a mixed bag sometimes but there’s nothing overly negative to say about it. Anyways, Season 6 is next!! It was always my most anticipated behind the fourth season!

Game of Thrones Season 5 is definitely the weakest out of the show so far, but it's still great. Danereys gets in contact with Tyrion this season since Jamie freed him from his prison, and he was soon kidnapped by Jorah on his way to Danereys. Danyeres soon forgave Jorah for defending her, and she was carried off by her dragon to the middle of nowhere. Jamie's daughter, Marcella (Aimee Richardson), was poisoned for the death of Oberyon (Pedro Pascal), and Cersei was dealing with her own trouble with The Seven in King's Landing. Jon Snow made friends with the wildlings after their leader was killed. He saw the White Walkers general, and he was killed by the Night's Watch for making friends with the wildlings. Jon just became the lord commander, and that's how the season ended. Stannis was also taken down so easily, which I didn't like. Sansa and Theon escaped Winterfell because Ramsey (Iwan Rheon) is a complete monster. Overall, I didn't really like The Seven, but I liked the season.
