While most elite youth soccer leagues are focused on competition, the NextGen Series was born from a different mindset. The focus of NextGen is on getting to the players at a young age and teaching them all the facets needed to become an elite-level player, while also educating coaches and parents to produce a support team pulling in one direction.

One of the major components of the NextGen Series, which opened this past weekend at IMG Academy, is the program’s focus on training and development. As part of the on-field work incorporated into the weekend’s sessions, the U12-U14 boys and girls in attendance were put through Ignite 360 testing by IMG staff to gauge their performance levels as they begin the process of becoming well-rounded players.

The inaugural event for the Next Generation Series came to a close today as 11 boys and girls teams from some of the top clubs in the southeast were able to enjoy a taste of professional-level training, testing and education. With the Phase I event complete, teams will put NextGen’s development-focused lessons into practice for the next six months before returning for the second NextGen Series event in April, 2014.

The inaugural edition of the Next Generation Series began at the world-class facilities of IMG Academy on Friday, with 11 top-class teams from across the southeast participating in a new player-development initiative aimed at the U14 and U12 age groups.

The Next Generation Series will make its debut Friday at IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida when 11 boys and girls teams from some of the top clubs in the southeast gather to participate in professional-level training, testing and education.
