Springfield-Branson National Airport welcoming direct flight to Miami
SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (KY3) - American Airlines announced a new spring break destination for a limited time.
American will fly nonstop to Miami starting in mid-February. The Saturday-only flight will end on March 29.
“Anytime we can add to an airport, I’m a pilot myself, so I know what funds are available. Anytime they have a flight come in it’s going to help the whole community and help the airport grow," said flyer and private jet pilot Al Beers.
The repaving of the public parking lot just finished this week and cost close to $2 million. Kent Boyd with the Springfield-Branson National Airport said it was much needed.
“It was a maintenance issue. The pavement out there had got to the point if we didn’t resurface the pavement was going to start breaking up because of moisture and condensation and all that sort of thing," Boyd said.
It could take seven to eight months before we hear anything about a new parking garage. Boyd said that’s because it will be a nearly 50 million project.
You can book your tickets through American starting next week by clicking here. Airport officials say they hope this trial run turns into a permanent booking.
