Former Congressman and NFL Star Jon Runyan Buys Smaller Place in Jersey

By Claudine Zap

From NFL offensive lineman to two-term New Jersey congressman, Jon Runyan has had an action-packed career.

Now the 42-year-old—who played for the Houston Oilers/Tennessee Titans, Philadelphia Eagles, and San Diego Chargers—is making some moves with his real estate playbook. The former Republican representative, who chose not to seek re-election in 2014, recently sold his palatial 13,000-square-foot estate in Mount Laurel, NJ, after putting it on the market for $5.8 million.

He has since purchased a more modest home in nearby Moorestown, NJ, for $1,375,000. We’re sure he’ll adjust to his smaller manse. The swank suburb was named the best town to live in in America by Money magazine in 2005.

Given the short, 25-minute commute to Philadelphia, perhaps it’s no surprise that other Eagles are known to live in the neighborhood, including retired quarterback Donovan McNabb.

When he’s not cheering on his former team in person, Runyan can be lord of his new manor, along with wife Loretta Runyan and their three children.

The 5,000-square-foot home, built in 2000, boasts “stunning architecture and generous spaces,” including a two-story family room, a sunny solarium, a modern kitchen with a breakfast room, and access to an outdoor patio.

A landscaped pool, cabana, waterfall, spa, and fire pit grace the backyard. For indoor entertainment, the home includes a gym, a wine cellar, and a bar room.
