Terry, at this stage of the release cycle, I think that's up to you and whether you want someone to do a code review prior to pushing upstream.  Since this sounds like a fairly major change, though, it might be the prudent thing to do.  I would be happy to take a quick look at the patches myself but I'm not in a position to do a detailed review of IDLE code; hopefully, others more familiar with it would be.
