Rate this project (9.0)

Franco Conidi has announced the release of SysLinuxOS 13.2, an updated build of the project's Debian-based distribution made primarily for system integrators and network administrators. The new version uses the Btrfs filesystem on new installation and integrates the Snapper utility for managing snapshots of Btrfs subvolumes. "SysLinuxOS 13.2 is a substantial revision of how the system handles storage, backups, recovery and boot. The release introduces Btrfs as the default filesystem and builds an integrated snapshot, rollback and backup layer on top of it. All of these capabilities are preconfigured and active from the first boot, with no additional setup required. New installations use Btrfs with the standard @ subvolume for root and @home for home. Calamares performs the partitioning and subvolume layout automatically during guided installation, with no manual configuration. Btrfs enables capabilities that are not available on ext4 - instant snapshots, full system rollback, and native incremental backups. In SysLinuxOS 13.2 these features are integrated and preconfigured out of the box. As soon as SysLinuxOS 13.2 is installed, Snapper is configured and active. The following operations are automatic: a baseline snapshot is created at the end of the installation, providing a clean reference point; each apt install, upgrade or remove operation creates a pre/post snapshot pair...." 2025-09-23 Distribution Release: SysLinuxOS 13
Franco Conidi has announced the release of SysLinuxOS 13, a major update of the project's Debian-based distribution designed for system integrators and network administrators: "SysLinuxOS 13 MATE released. SysLinuxOS 13 follows the release of Debian 13, code name 'Trixie', bringing with it the robustness and security of a stable Debian operating system. SysLinuxOS 13 is now available with several enhancements and new features. Some of these improvements are under the hood, providing additional functionality. SysLinuxOS 13 comes with the MATE desktop environment as the primary option, while the version with GNOME will be released next week. The MATE desktop environment comes with the usual Networking menu, which contains some of the tools for network analysis. Many others are available from the command line. There are many programs that help the user have a ready-to-use distribution, but above all one capable of interacting with Windows programs and systems. Wine is included." Continue to the release announcement for further details. Download: SysLinuxOS-13-Mate_amd64.iso (6,042MB, SHA256, pkglist, username: admin, password: root).
2024-06-19 Distribution Release: SysLinuxOS 12.4
Franco Conidi has announced the release of SysLinuxOS 12.4, the latest stable build of the project's distribution, based on Debian's "stable" branch, designed for system integrators and network administrators. This version continues to be based on Debian 12 and includes the Linux kernel version 6.7, along with some bug fixes. "SysLinuxOS is updated to version 12.4. In this version, several bugs have been fixed and it also brings with it several improvements to make it much more intuitive and easy to use. Solved problems with the repository and the new 6.7 Linux kernel are the biggest news items. Many changes are under the hood, while others are purely aesthetic and they improve the menu in both GNOME and MATE desktop environments. SysLinuxOS is a distribution for system integrators and network administrators, it must be chameleonic and therefore have tools that help to interface in a mixed Windows/GNU/Linux environment. Added: Linux kernel 6.7; solved problems with the repository (https); upgraded conky.conf; menu improvements; bug fixes. Removed: Teams-for-Linux." See the release announcement, the release notes and the changelog for further information. 2024-01-31 Distribution Release: SysLinuxOS 12.3
Franco Conidi has announced the release of SysLinuxOS 12.3, an updated version of the project's Debian-based distribution designed primarily for system integrators and administrators. This version is based on Debian 12 and comes with a long-term supported 6.5 version of the Linux kernel. "SysLinuxOS is updated to version 12.3. In this version, numerous bugs have been fixed and it also brings with it several improvements to make it much more intuitive and easy to use. Many changes are under the hood, while others are purely aesthetic, and they improve the menu and icons in both GNOME and MATE desktop environments. SysLinuxOS is a distribution for system integrators and network administrators, it must be chameleonic and therefore have tools that help to interface in a mixed Windows/Linux environment. In this update, I have excluded two or three programs in favor of others that I believe are more useful for greater interoperability. I have therefore added WoeUSB, Teams for Linux, Webex, Github Desktop, Wiregui, Timeshift. As you can easily imagine, there is a lot of work behind this, so I apologize in advance if you encounter any small problems." See the release announcement, the release notes and the changelog for more details. Download (MD5, pkglist, username: admin, password: root): SysLinuxOS_12.3-Mate_amd64.iso (4,818MB), SysLinuxOS_12.3-Gnome_amd64.iso (3,478MB).
2023-09-12 Distribution Release: SysLinuxOS 12.1
Franco Conidi has announced the release of SysLinuxOS 12.1, an updated build of the project's Debian-based distribution designed for system administrators and system integrators, offering a choice of MATE and GNOME desktops. This release updates the Linux kernel to version 6.4: "SysLinuxOS 12.1 brings some improvements and bug fixes. By default, it includes the latest kernel 6.4 directly from the backports repository, replacing the removed 6.3.8 version. Additionally, VMware Player 17 has been added. Other changes relate to some system icons and further adjustments have been made in preparation for the upcoming integration of new custom repositories for SysLinuxOS. The changes apply to both editions, GNOME and Mate. Features: USB bootable; Mate and GNOME desktops; Calamares installer; Linux kernel 6.4 amd64; Firefox, Chrome, Chromium, Edge and Tor Browser; Teamviewer, Anydesk, Remmina, Zoom, Skype; Wireshark, Packet Tracer 8.2.1, GNS3, Nmap, Lssid, Etherape, Ettercap, PackETH; Packetsender, Angry Ip Scanner, Sparrow Wifi, Fast-cli, Speedtest-cli, ipcalc, iperf3...." See the release announcement, the release notes and the changelog for more details. Download (MD5, pkglist, username: admin, password: root): SysLinuxOS_12.1-Mate_amd64.iso (4,966MB), SysLinuxOS_12.1-Gnome_amd64.iso (4,828MB).
2023-06-18 Distribution Release: SysLinuxOS 12
Franco Conidi has announced the release of SysLinuxOS 12, a major new release of the project's Debian-based live distribution designed for system administrators and system integrators: "Following the release of Debian 12 'Bookworm', SysLinuxOS 12 is now available with several enhancements and new features that set it apart from Debian 12. Some of these improvements are under the hood, providing additional functionality. SysLinuxOS 12 comes with the MATE desktop environment as the primary option, while the version with GNOME will be released later. In terms of aesthetics, two Conky widgets have been integrated; they not only enhance the desktop's visual appeal but also provide useful information about PC performance, network status (including private and public IP addresses), and running processes. Additionally, the menu has been reorganized based on the utility of the programs. A new menu called Networking has been introduced, which includes tools for network analysis. These tools are primarily GUI-based, while command-line alternatives are also available. MATE offers a simple, organized and fast desktop environment." Here is the full release announcement.
