Hi there, I'm Jo Bovy 👋

I'm an 🔭 astrophysicist 🔭 at the 🎓 University of Toronto 🎓 working on understanding 🌌 galaxy formation 🌌 and ⚛️ dark matter ⚛️ and on making astrophysics more accessible, robust, and reproducible by developing open-source, well-documented, and well-tested software packages for use in astrophysics and beyond.

  • wendy: A one-dimensional gravitational N-body code
  • kimmy: a Python package for galactic chemical evolution (also available in javascript form!)
  • apogee: Tools for dealing with APOGEE data
  • gaia_tools: Tools for working with the @ESAGaia data and related data sets
  • mwdust: Tools for dealing with dust extinction in the Milky Way
  • extreme deconvolution: Density estimation using Gaussian mixtures in the presence of noisy, heterogeneous and incomplete data
