Hi, I'm Peng Lyu

I build developer tools, mostly in and around VS Code.

I like working on the parts of software that shape how people think and create: editors, notebooks, search, remote development, and now coding agents. The best tools, to me, inspire you to think deeply and create more freely.

• VS Code, where I work on editor UX, notebooks/Jupyter, search, remote development, vscode.dev, and agentic coding experiences.
• Jupyter, the Jupyter extension for VS Code.
• Copilot Chat, including recent work around Copilot coding agent, Copilot CLI, and Agent Sessions.
• VSCodeVim, Vim emulation for Visual Studio Code.
• PieceTree, the text buffer used in VS Code. The story behind it is in Text Buffer Reimplementation.
