spheppner - Overview

Hi there, I'm Simon Heppner πŸ‘‹

I'm a developer from Austria, dedicated to using technology to build a greener, more sustainable future.

πŸ‘¨β€πŸ’» About Me

I'm currently a developer at Zuugle Services GmbH, where I contribute to the frontend of the Diana GreenConnect projectβ€”a transit planner designed to promote sustainable travel. In parallel, I work as a Web Developer for Alpenverein Austria, creating web experiences with PHP, JavaScript, and HTML. I also have experience developing and deploying WordPress sites for various clients.

This autumn, I'm excited to begin my Computer Science studies at TU Wien. My fascination with technology goes beyond my professional work; I'm deeply interested in Artificial Intelligence, particularly evolutionary computation. I even wrote my pre-scientific paper on "Genetic Algorithms and their Applications."

When I'm not coding, I volunteer as a RettungssanitΓ€ter (paramedic), a role that has taught me the importance of precision, teamwork, and staying calm under pressure.

πŸš€ What I'm Currently Working On

At Zuugle Services GmbH, I'm focused on developing the Diana GreenConnect Widget. It's a modular JavaScript widget designed to help users plan sustainable transit connections for their activities. The goal is to make green travel planning seamless and accessible directly within any web application.

We're building it to be highly configurable and easy to integrate, encouraging more people to choose public transport.

πŸ† Achievements & Featured Projects

I'm proud to be a two-time winner of the Prix Ars Electronica U19 Sachpreis.

πŸ₯‡ Dungeon of Math (Prix Ars Electronica Winner 2019)

Dungeon of Math is a rogue-like game I developed using Python and Pygame. In the game, you play as a character navigating a labyrinth where you can battle monsters, discover treasures, solve math problems, and ultimately find the exit. All levels are randomly generated, offering a unique blend of adventure and mathematical challenges.
